July 26th - The Decorator Pattern by Larry Conklin
Please attend our next Tulsa Developers .NET meeting on Monday July 26th, 2010!

Also, take some time and give our local Microsoft Evangelists some feedback!

Speaker: Larry Conklin , QuikTrip Corp
Larry Conklin, I am a developer with QuikTrip Corp. I have worked for fortune 100 companies, IBM, Bell South Wireless, and Williams Communication Group/WilTel/Level 3 Communications.

I have developed code for over 20 years in Neat/3, Cobol, RPG, C++, Java and .Net languages.

I have personally survived fire (burning marshmallow), flood (numerous toilets overflows), starvation (lost a lunch on a fishing expedition), savage beasts (Mosquitoes, Fire ants, and mean cats), disease and pestilence (Chicken pox and Mumps, Shingles).

Throughout all my challenges and tribulations I have remained constant in my desire to learn new coding techniques.  One of my favorite quotes is “Never be afraid of new, because there will always be something new”. My current area of focus is learning how security and SDLC come together. I have just completed my Certification in Information Security at University of Tulsa.

 Presentation
The decorator pattern allows new/additional behavior to be added at runtime if the upfront work was laid down. Decorators provide a flexible alternative to subclassing for extending functionality. Decorator pattern is one of the seven Structural patterns.  Decorator pattern is an important part of the Open/Close principle.
