Subject: May 24th - Design Patterns with Chris Patterson

Please attend our next Tulsa Developers .NET meeting on Monday May 24th, 2010!

Speaker: Chris Patterson , Software Architect, RelayHealth
Chris has over 18 years of software development experience on Microsoft platforms, ranging from real-time systems written in C/C++ to customer facing web applications built using C#, .NET, Classic ASP, and C++/COM/ATL.

Don't Be A Menace To Maintainability While Creating Objects Using New

In object-oriented programming, creational design patterns deal with object creation, providing alternatives when "new" leads to code duplication and tight coupling. Code duplication increases maintenance effort and cost, and tight coupling often leads to design problems that increase complexity, limit reusability and make testing difficult. In this presentation, I will use C# to show how creational patterns, including factory method, abstract factory, builder, and singleton, can increase class flexibility. Once we have a shared understanding of creational patterns, I will give a brief introduction to dependency injection, including how to use an inversion of control container to vastly simplify object creation in real applications.
